Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for an hour before serving. With an intense ruby red colour in the glass, this Marsannay is bursting with character. It begins with a bouquet of red currants and raspberries, purple flowers, warm spice, and slight hints of toasted bread.
The fruits came from Es Chezots, a 2-hectare vineyard that grows on sandy, clayish soils, between two valleys in the appellation of Marsannay. Chateau de Marsannay is the first stop on Burgundy’s "Route des Grand Crus", and has been an official organic farm since 2021.
It spans 34 hectares in the heart of the Cote de Nuits, encompassing a tapestry of different terroirs that make up one of the best red wine regions in France. Typical of Marsannay, Es Chezots is both silky and powerful on the palate.
Its supple, fruity character is built on a foundation of round tannins. Look for notes of cherry, raspberry, and violet, with earthy hints of cinnamon, forest floor, and star anise. It brings good levels of acidity and excellent length, leading into strong notes of minerality on the finish.
This Pinot Noir will be excellent with poultry or red meats or even served alongside a rich chocolate cake.
