Argentina has become a stronghold for wine-making women - before the esteemed members of the Catena family, there was Susana Balbo, Argentina’s first female enologist. Her countless achievements include being elected as the President of Wines of Argentina 3 times, redefining the Argentinian style of Torrontés wine, and founding her own label in 1999. Susana Balbo wines can be recognised for their impeccable quality, attention to detail, and brilliant representation of some of Argentina’s finest terroirs, brought to you through the senses of taste and smell. Nosotros is a wine that travels year aby year. Each vintage is sourced from a different vineyard, carefully chosen depending on the yearly crop. Nosotros is made with 100% Malbec, aged in French oak barrels for 16 months. This is a must-have for collectors, and there is a lot of room for further ageing. It shows a rich, nuanced nose of blueberry, cassis and flowers, with whispers of mint, minerality and cocoa. It’s medium to full-bodied in the mouth, with an incredible structure, refreshing acidity gained from high altitudes, and dogged, tenacious tannins, which propel an extremely long finish. Vivacious and supple, this wine can be paired with a variety of roasted and smoked dishes. Grilled vegetables, roast beef or pork, and smoked cheeses would all make for an enthralling culinary experience.
