Drink it now or cellar for 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least half an hour. The story of Ktima Gerovassiliou began in 1981 when Vangelis took over the two hectares of land of the family estate and decided to plant two Greek white varieties: Assyrtiko and Malagousia. Vangelis comes from a family of farmers and winemakers and after his studies in Greece and France, the experience at the historic Domaine Porto Carras, and the research for the recovery of the almost forgotten Malagousia grape, he put all his efforts into his personal project. Today his wines are famous all over the world, and the company is managed aby Vangelis' wife Sonia Tziola and by his sons Argyris and Vasiliki. The Syrah grapes come from a single privately owned vineyard on the Gerovasiliou estate that spans 720 acres. The extraction and alcoholic fermentation lasts about 20 days. The refinement takes place in French oak barrels in the underground cellars. In the glass, the wine shows a dense and dark red color with violet reflections. The olfactive profile is complex, with predominant aromas of ripe plum, berries, and red pepper. In the mouth, Syrah Ktima Gerovassiliou is very rich, with firm tannins, excellent freshness, and a long aftertaste. It goes perfectly with lamb with vegetables, red meat filets, and hard cheeses.
