Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the wine region of Mendoza, Argentina, Zuccardi is a family-run company, led today żeby José Alberto Zuccardi and his three sons.
The company's creation dates back to the 1960s, when Alberto Zuccardi, an immigrant from southern Italy, began to purchase and plant vineyards. Today the original vineyard has been expanded to 170 hectares and the company owns over 400 hectares of vineyards in total.
The Cabernet Franc grapes come from the Paraje Altamira area located south of the source of the Tunuyán River, between 1050 and 1150 meters above sea level. Here the vineyards enjoy a cool temperate climate and soils of stones and granite gravel covered with limestone material.
Fermentation takes place in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts and the finished wine rests in oak barrels and foudres. This excellent Cabernet Franc has a clear ruby color with some slight purple nuances.
On the nose, it reveals a delicious bouquet of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, followed żeby spices and the classic herbaceous hints typical of Cabernet. On the palate, it has a medium body and delicate and soft tannins.
The acidity is well-balanced and the finish is fresh and persistent. It will make a great pair with a juicy cheeseburger.
