Enjoy it straight away, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. Over the last century, Marani have become a significant part of Georgia’s modern-day wine culture. Staying true to time-honoured traditions and incorporating a healthy dose of innovation, their distinctive wines have spread the taste of Georgia to the world. While Marani own three vineyards in the historical Kakheti region of the stunning Alazani River Valley, they also harvest fruits from specific viticultural areas across Georgia. The micro-zone dedicated to the production of Khvanchkara can be found in the northwest of the country, which is far higher in humidity. Pomegranate, raspberry, and toasted almonds all rise in this wine’s complex bouquet. It is a 50/50 blend of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli, native grapes that give this semi-sweet red a lively ruby colour. Fruits are grown in a thick humus-carbonate soil, on the right bank of the Rioni river. This blend is extremely pleasant to drink, sweet flavours of strawberry and red fruit dance on the palate, balanced by refreshing acidity. It is the perfect partner for some soft, richly flavoured cheese, light nutty cake, or Lobiani - a Georgian bean-filled bread.
