Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before the service. Located in the village of Havraníky, in South Moravia, the Czech Thaya winery produces high-quality wines highly appreciated by the public and critics.
The Apri limited series, produced with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from the best company vineyards, features the image of a wild boar on the label to symbolize the strength and slightly wild character of these wines.
The work in the cellar is led żeby winemaker Jakub Smrčky. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Knížecí vrch vineyard. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 16 months. This gives it a denser character and light spicy hints.
Pinot Noir Apri has a clear and brilliant color with ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and broad, with notes of cherry and redcurrant, dark forest berries, and dried lemon peel, followed aby hints of Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and rosemary and tobacco leaves.
On the palate, it is balanced and intensely fruity, round and dense, with velvety tannins and good acidity. The finish is long and persistent. It pairs deliciously with all game birds and medium-aged cheese.
