Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant it. Located in the heart of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the southern Rhône valley, the Usseglio Raymond & Fils estate was founded żeby Francis Usseglio who settled here from Italy in 1931 and started to make wine in 1948. Today the estate, which extends over 24 hectares of vineyards (of which 19 in the AOC Châteauneuf du Pape rouge and blanc and 5 in the Côtes-du-Rhône area) managed according to biodynamic principles, is led by Stephane, the third generation of the family. The wine is produced with 100% Roussanne grapes coming from a mix of vineyards facing north on sandy soils and others facing south on clayey soils. The harvest is manual and the winemaking takes place according to the Burgundian tradition in oak barrels, where the wine then ages on the yeasts for a few months. Chateauneuf Du Pape Blanc Pure Roussanne is a wine with a golden bright color and an intense and elegant aromatic profile. The nose reveals notes of stone fruit (especially peach) and candied citrus fruits, white flowers, and some delicate hints of brioche and exotic fruit. On the palate, it is rich and round, fruity and harmonious. It has a well-balanced acid vein and good minerality. The finish is long and recalls aromas of aromatic herbs and white flowers. Excellent with sea bass, parmesan risotto, and also with white truffle dishes.
