Enjoy it now or cellar for a few more years. No need to decant before serving. This is an elegant and deeply aromatic Cremant, exploding with notes of green apple skin, apricots, white flowers, and buttery brioche.
The name "Breit" is derived from the "Hangenbreite" vineyard, a steeply sloped location with rich calcareous soil. The wine’s aromatic character comes from a delicious combination of grapes: Chardonnay accounts for half of the blend, with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Auxerrois making up a quarter each.
In the village of Dahlenheim, just to the west of Strasbourg, Mélanie Pfister creates a stunning range of Alsace wines. She took over the family business from her father in 2006 and represents the 8th generation of wine-making Pfisters in northern Alsace.
She’s a pioneer of organic farming in the region and was the first non-German winemaker to acquire the "Fair n Green" sustainable certification. The Breit Blanc de Blancs is dry and highly acidic on the palate, with a round undercurrent of orchard fruits and ripe apricots.
Following an initially creamy mouthfeel, sharp flavours of apple and lemon zest persist to the finish. This is a premium taste of Alsace, at a very reasonable price. Suitable for ageing in the cellar. Consider drinking Breit as an aperitif, or pairing it with a creamy pasta sauce.
