Cellar for up to 10 years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. Scents of dark hedgerow fruits, forest floor, and toasted wood emerge from the nose of this delicate Pinot Noir. If you enjoy terroir-driven wines with great purity of fruit and undeniable elegance, Mélanie Pfister is the winery for you.
The fruits for this bottle were harvested from Scharrachberg, a scenic hill near the Engelberg Grand Cru in Alsace. In the quaint village of Dahlenheim, west of Strasbourg, Mélanie Pfister creates a stunning range of cool-climate Alsace wines.
She inherited the family business from her father in 2006 and represents the 8th generation of Pfister winemakers in the region. Since 2018, she has also been a pioneer of organic farming in the region, receiving the "Fair n Green" sustainable farming certificate.
The Hut Pinot Noir is wonderfully smooth in the mouth, with complex flavours of blackberry, raspberry, sour red cherry, leather, mushroom, and dried herbs. A 14-month stretch of maturation lends a fantastic maturity to the wine, along with a woody, tannic character.
This is one of the finest French Pinot Noirs outside of Burgundy. It can be paired with pasta in a red wine sauce, beef bourguignon, or a tender mushroom risotto.
