Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. This stunning Marlborough rosé is the handiwork of Black Cottage’s owner and winemaker David Clouston who previously spent time making wine both in Corsica and France. This influence on his winemaking is clear thanks to the light, fresh character of this elegant rosé which immediately reminds of delicate Provence wines. To craft this ethereal pink wine David treats the grapes as white wine grapes in the winery, only allowing a short amount of skin contact to give subtle colour to the wine. Following the fermentation the wine is aged on the lees for 8 weeks to add a touch of complexity and a smooth, rounded texture to the finished wine. The wine is then bottled to highlight the freshness and charming fruit character of the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir grape varieties. As soon as you pour out a glass you’ll notice the stunning pale salmon hue and enchanting aromas of strawberries, raspberries and hints of vanilla. The first sip reveals a bright acidity, plenty of red fruit character, and a light body which would pair well with summer salads, a selection of charcuterie and cheese, or a generous platter of fruits de mer.
