Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving. Every bottle from Auvigue winery is adorned with one of Burgundy’s most iconic sights - the "Roche de Solutré", a lofty limestone escarpment that can be seen from the winery itself. The Auvigue family have been in Pouilly-Fuissé for centuries, and are now in their sixth generation of winemakers. Brothers Michel and Jean-Pierre create a gorgeous range of Chardonnay wines using minimal intervention methods. They work plot-by-plot, harvesting grapes that are not yet overly ripe, in order to create a wine that is inherently fresh, delicate, and packed with the floral character of barely ripe fruit. "Les Villages" is a blend of several plots around the village of Solutré, and a brilliant introduction to the Auvigue family’s unique style. Crisp acidity and a hearty, comforting character balance each other out perfectly. There are lively aromas of white flowers, lemon, peach and toasted nuts on the nose, underpinned by a timeless minerality. In the mouth, the influence of lees and oak ageing becomes more apparent. It is supple and round, with flavours of apple, nut, honeysuckle, creamy vanilla and steely wet stone. It is the ideal wine to enjoy with some seafood. Consider serving it alongside scallops, fish in white sauce, sushi or soft cheese.
