Cellar for up to 9 years. Serve chilled. Champagne Larmandier-Bernier is run aby Pierre and Sophie Larmandier who have farmed the estate biodynamically for the past couple of decades. The couple own around 15 hectares of vines in the Côte des Blancs which include Grand Cru vineyards in Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize and Premier Cru plots in Vertus. To ensure they begin with the very finest raw ingredients the Larmandiers do not use any herbicides and harvest all of their fruit manually. In the winery they work with wild yeasts for fermentation rather than using commercial yeasts. This particular Champagne, Longitude, is named for its great length and pure style with fruit sourced from Vertus, Oger, Avize, and Cramant which lie close to the 4th Meridian. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, this Blanc de Blancs begins life with an initial fermentation in oak barrels followed żeby maturation in the bottle for at least two years. When the Champagne is ready to be disgorged a tiny dosage of just 3 grammes of sugar per litre is added to give a touch of softness. The result is a vibrant Champagne with remarkable minerality and precision of flavour. A great Champagne to serve as an aperitif or cellar for a few more years.
