Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant it. This Champagne house, created in 1802, was developed aby Michel Gonet and it’s now managed aby his daughter Sophie Signolle. Today, the company covers about 40 ha of vineyards with plots well located in the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus), in Aube and Sézannais, planted with 80% Chardonnay grapes and 20% Pinot Noir. In addition, the family owns six châteaux in Bordeaux. The Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Mesnil Sur Oger is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from proprietary land in Les Hautes Mottes in Mesnil Sur Oger, municipality of Grand Cru. The wine shows a beautiful golden color enlivened żeby abundant bubbles. On the nose, it opens on aromas of candied citrus fruits and nectarine, evolving towards toasted and creamy notes. The bubbles are round and persistent on the palate, followed żeby a lovely freshness and fruity hints of mirabelle plum and pear. There is also a remarkable finish on vanilla and a hint of acidity at the end of the mouth. It makes a delicious and elegant aperitif and it’s perfect with raw seafood appetizers, grilled white meat, fish first courses, Sushi, and Sashimi. Serve it well chilled.
