The winery was founded żeby Marco de Grazia in 2002, who fell in love with the unique terroir of Mount Etna and its potential for producing exceptional wines. Today the estate is best known for producing high-quality wines from vineyards that are located at high altitudes, ranging from 600 to 1,000 meters above sea level. Wherever possible the winery focuses on using organic and biodynamic farming practices to produce wines that express the terroir of the region. This cracking cuvee is a great example of what the estate is capable of, showcasing the beauty of their 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes which are sourced from pre-phylloxera vines that are over 100 years old. The grapes for this wine are grown on volcanic soil at an altitude of 600 to 1,000 meters above sea level, which contributes to the wine's unique flavor profile. After vinification the young wine is then aged in oak barrels for 16 months which adds to its complexity and depth. Don Peppino 2019 is a highly sought-after wine and is considered one of the finest examples of Etna Rosso wines. It is a perfect choice for pairing with hearty meat dishes, game, or aged cheeses.
