Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Located in the Collio, between Italy and Slovenia, the Movia winery belongs to the Kristancic family since 1820, although the company actually boasts an even longer wine history of over 300 years.
Movia winery has been managed since the 90s aby Ales Kristancic who carries out a non-interventionist philosophy, with the use of indigenous yeasts and long macerations. The Rebula grapes come from the Slovenian Collio, from vineyards of around 15 years of age, planted on the typical Collio Flysch, a soil characterized aby layers of marl and sandstone.
After a brief maceration on the skins, fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The finished wine is aged on the lees for 4 months in used barriques and then for a further 4 months in concrete eggs.
Rebula Black Label reveals an elegant and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of ripe citrus and tropical fruit, medicinal herbs, and white flowers. On the palate, it is lively and has an energetic acidic streak.
It is balanced and dry with a long, lively finish that recalls notes of saltiness. It is excellent as an aperitif with fish-based finger food, but it is an absolute must-try with oysters.
