Drink now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. Set in a gorgeous corner of Salento surrounded aby vineyards, olive trees and the Mediterranean Sea, Feudi Salentini specialises in delicious wines made according to local winemaking traditions. Today the estate is run żeby the third generation of the family represented by Cosimo and Maria Teresa Varvaglione who prioritise quality and attention to detail. Many of the vines are planted free-standing as they have been here for centuries and the grapes are harvested żeby hand to ensure they arrive at the winery in excellent condition. The grapes are then macerated and fermented in temperature controlled tanks and left to mature in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 10 months. The result is a luscious full bodied red wine with ample dark berry and cherry flavours seasoned with licorice, bitter chocolate, cinnamon and cloves from the oak ageing. The firm tannins, rounded texture, well-defined structure and juicy fruit flavours which linger on the tongue make this a great partner for rich meat stews, steak, or barbecued ribs. It can also be kept in the cellar for another few years where it will continue to evolve and develop.
