Cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is one of the linchpin wineries of the Alsace region. It was created in 1959 through a merger of two wine-growing families, the Humbrechts from Gueberschwihr and the Zinds of Wintzenheim. Both families have extremely deep roots in Alsace, and a wealth of viticultural knowledge to pour into their wines. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, Domaine Humbrecht-Zind began snapping up various plots of abandoned land throughout Alsace. These have grown to become some of the region’s greatest vineyards, many of which are on hills far too steep to be machine harvested. "Zind" is made from 100% Chardonnay, sourced from the limestone-rich Clos Windsbuhl. The nose is driven along by an impression of wet slate, along with citrus fruits, peach and yellow apple. This wine was fermented on oak and aged on lees until bottling, giving it a medium body and buttery mouth feel. Make no mistake though, this is a perfect choice for lovers of dry white wine. It is highly acidic and bone dry on the palate, where you will discover further notes of white-fleshed fruit, lemon zest, honeysuckle and prominent minerality. This will be a wonderful companion for a variety of Alsatian pork dishes, seafood, or a cheese plate.
