Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 10 years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. Charmes is a delightful expression of the Santenay appellation, exhibiting aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and rose petal, complemented by hints of pepper and anise.
Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine comes from the 1.15-hectare Charmes vineyard, renowned for its well-drained, stony soils that impart a distinct mineral character to the wine. Domaine Roger Belland has a rich and tapestried history in Burgundy, stretching back over a century.
Each generation of this winery has contributed something special to the estate’s legacy of producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines. These days, the winery is run by a father and daughter duo, Roger and Julie, who represent the fifth and sixth generations of Belland winemakers, respectively.
On the palate, Charmes reveals layers of red fruit, spice, and a touch of oak, supported żeby finely grained tannins and sharp, refreshing acidity. One year of ageing in French oak adds a certain maturity to this noble wine.
The finish is elegant and lingers in the mouth, bringing nuances of cassis, pomegranate, and white pepper. Charmes will make an excellent partner for a charcuterie board, grilled vegetables, or coq au vin.
