Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie today has approximately 34 hectares of vineyards divided into 67 plots, and located between the Cote de Nuits and the Cote de Beaune. Its history, however, dates back to 1964 when Jean Charles Boisset purchased the Les Evocelles vineyard near Gevrey-Chambertin. To best enhance the quality of its land, the company initially adopted organic viticulture and then, in 2001, embraced biodynamic management. The Premier Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot vineyard is located near the famous Chateau du Clos de Vougeot. It is a true wine jewel with an illustrious history: the first evidence of vine cultivation dates back to the year 1110. The Chardonnay grapes are fermented in stainless steel vats. Then the finished wine is aged for 15 months in barrique, and another 3 months in stainless steel tanks. The wine reveals a complex aromatic profile, with fruity notes of apple, pear, and stone fruit then white flowers and delicate sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is extremely elegant, soft, and mineral. It has a good structure, it’s dense and well balanced. The finish is persistent. Its strong minerality makes it the perfect wine to pair with seafood.
