Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for a half an hour. Founded in 1957, Klet Brda is the most important cooperative winery in the Slovenian region of Goriška Brda. As in the Collio Goriziano of Friuli Venezia Giulia, here the vine benefits from a particularly favorable microclimate and soils of sandstone and calcareous marl, rich in mineral substances. Produced only in the best years, the wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The Merlot grapes come from vineyards located on marl and loam soils located in the villages of Kozana and Cerovo. Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from vineyards located between 100 and 250 meters above sea level, in Medana and Višnjevik. Finally, the Cabernet Franc comes from vineyards on soil composed of marl, sandstone, and silt in Medana, Dobrovo, and Kozana. The grapes are harvested and processed separately. The finished wines are then aged separately for 24 months and finally blended. The mixture is then aged in barrels. The Klet Brda A Plus Red presents itself with a dark ruby color. The aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with notes of ripe red fruit and jam and then Mediterranean herbs, mint, and spices. On the palate, the wine is full and round, well-structured and concentrated. The finish is long and recalls sweet notes of vanilla and chocolate. Perfect with pork loin, pulled pork, or game meat.
