Drink it now or cellar for up to 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Considered one of the most prestigious wineries in Valpolicella, Romano Dal Forno manages a 25-hectare estate in Val d'Illasi, north-west of Verona. This area, characterized aby the presence of limestone soils and a climate mitigated żeby the breezes coming from the nearby Lake Garda, is particularly suited to the cultivation of native red vines (Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara). The winery was founded in the 80s and is today managed żeby Romano's children. Amarone Monte Lodoletta is a classic blend of the local vines Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Croatina, and Oseleta. The grapes are selected manually and after the harvest, they are left to dry in the fruit cellar for 4 months to favor the concentration of sugars and aromas. After vinification, the wine is aged for 60 months in barriques. This gives it great elegance and harmony. The wine reveals a ruby-red color with dark tones. Its aromatic profile is expressive and complex with elegant notes of cherries, plums, and other ripe red fruit, hints of cocoa and sweet spices, and some nuances of licorice. On the palate, it is round and soft, intense and warm. It has silky tannins and great flavor intensity. The finish is long and warm and recalls delicate spicy notes. It is the ideal wine for stews and braised red meat, with game or with mature cheeses.
