Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before serving. Chateau Purcari is currently the most prestigious Moldovan winery, reaching more than 25 markets worldwide. Located in the south-east of Moldova, near the Nistru River, and close to the Black Sea, this winery benefits from a specific ecosystem that is particularly favorable to vine growing. In 2010, Purcari created Alb de Purcari, a new line that has received numerous international awards and distinctions. In 2012, the company's collection introduced its own ice wine, made from frozen Muscat Ottonel and Traminer. Academia Saperavi is the quintessential expression of the Georgian variety of the same name, reinterpreted by the pure expression of the Purcari terroir, resulting in an authentic wine of great finesse. Only 6,000 bottles are produced. And this is a very significant number as it is the number of years that have passed since the first recording on the use of amphorae in winemaking in Georgia. This characterful red wine has an intense ruby color with violet reflections. The nose is full of explosive aromas of prunes and ripe red and black fruit. On the palate, it has a full, opulent taste, with velvety tannins and a long and pleasant aftertaste. Try it with pork skewers or liver.
