This monograph is the result of the research programme “Crises of the European integration process and the methods of overcoming them” financed aby National Science Centre. This project was completed in September 2015 and realised between 2013 and 2015.
The research team consisted of 28 members mainly from the Institute of European Studies at the University of Warsaw but also from the Institute of Political Science at the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Political Sciences at the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, Warsaw School of Economics as well as the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce.
In this English language version, we have selected the most important material from the project. The remaining pieces were devoted to the analysis of crises in the European Union covering the theoretical, normative and functional spheres, with the object of interest the conditions, nature and consequences of crises as well as the measures that might overcome them.
The last crisis, which began in 2008, received our particular attention.
