Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8 mm F3.5 Panasonic has announced a fisheye lens for the Lumix G Micro system cameras aby means of the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 (35mm equivalent: 16 mm). This fisheye lens has a diagonal angle of view of 180 degrees, resulting in a striking perspective and unique morphing effect.
It enables the shooting of extremely striking recordings that provide not only photos but also videos with an extra dimension. Thus, recordings for TV, film or internet can be made even more impressive.
The lens contains ten elements in nine groups but is nevertheless extremely compact and significantly smaller and lighter thanks to the Micro Four Thirds system. The application of an ED lens achieves a constant and high level of performance, from close-ups to infinity, in which the chromatic aberration and distortion are reduced to a minimum.
The closest focus distance is just 0.1m, but the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 is equipped with an internal focus system that allows for a large distance so that the user does not have to come closer to the subject, even for close-up recordings.
Silent focusing Mounted on the Lumix G Micro System camera, the new Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens makes it possible to use the rapid and accurate contrast AF system that makes recording even easier and more enjoyable.
Thanks to the seven blades the aperture value has a rounded shape that allows for an attractive soft effect in the blurred sections of the image while shooting at a larger aperture. Also, filters such as, for example, a gel filter, can be placed in the back of the unit for more creativity in the recordings.
The stepper motor allows for smooth and silent focusing in both photo and video recordings. The lens also has a highly reliable metal mount and uses multi-coated lens elements that prevent ghosting (double images) and flare (light spots), which further enhances the optical performance.
The perfectly designed lens hood can even be used in bright sunlight.
