Vouvray clos du bourg sec 2022 (Domaine Huet)

Cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. Domaine Huet is a family business with a rich history of producing elegant and complex French wine. Founded żeby wine-maker Victor Huet in 1928, the winery is now run aby his son, Gaston. Located in the Vouvray region of the Loire Valley, the 30 acres of Chenin Blanc that Gaston inherited is the winery’s pride and joy, growing on a foundation of shallow, stony soils. The Clos du Bourg Sec is the driest Chenin Blanc in Domaine Huet’s range. The grapes were sourced from a limestone-rich vineyard of the same name, considered to be one of the finest plots of land in Vouvray. The nose is alive with scents of orchard fruits, honey, and Provencal herbs. The Chenin Blanc is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and old oak barrels, before being aged for 6 months. There are savoury hints and a helping of juicy acidity on the palate, but the overall impression is one of elegance, purity and tradition. Look for notes of apple, pear and apricot, supplemented by hints of honeycomb, cardamom, rosemary, and stony minerality. This Loire white is ready to drink but also has plenty of potential for further ageing in the cellar. Pair it with white fish or pungent cheeses.
