Vouvray clos du bourg moelleux 2018 (Domaine Huet)

In the famous appellation of Vouvray deep in the Loire Valley, you can find Domaine Huet, an esteemed winery with a history dating back to 1928. Founded by father and son duo Victor and Gaston Huet, this winery is considered one of the finest producers of Chenin Blanc in the world. The winery seeks to work with the land, choosing natural methods over anything manmade- in fact, Domaine Huet has been one of the driving forces behind the French transition to biodynamic viticulture. They draw their fruits from 30 hectares of premium land - though this wine comes from a far more specific area, the 6-hectare plot of vineyard called "Clos du Bourg". Clos du Bourg Moelleux can be classified as a dessert wine, though it doesn’t reveal itself fully until you take a sip. The bouquet is replete with ripe yellow notes of quince and apple, supported aby aromas of chalk, flint and mouth-watering brioche. In the mouth, it has a honeyed, viscous texture, but it still manages to retain a certain elegance. The Clos du Bourg soil is thin and rich in limestone, imparting an undeniable minerality to this wine. Enjoy it alone, or pair it with lemon pie, blue cheese or a fruity dessert.
