Podczas degustacji Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart y Falcó, siedemdziesiąty hrabia Alba, przyznał iż tak szlachetny napój powinien nosić miano godne jego najwspanialszych przodków. Zaproponował nadanie tej brandy nazwy Great Duke of Alba, na cześć Fernando Álvarez de Toledo y Pimentel.
