Oficjalnie destylarnia Ardbeg powstała w 1815 roku, istnieją jednak podejrzenia, że nielegalną produkcję prowadzono tam już sto lat wcześniej. Jak wszystkie whisky z Islay, Ardbeg jest ostra i zdecydowana w smaku.
