Cremant de bourgogne brut (Domaine Francois Mikulski)

Enjoy it now, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. This Burgundian sparkling wine explodes with a rich nose of citrus fruits, green apple skin, salty sea spray, and toasted nuts.

It is an intriguing blend of grapes - 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 15% Aligoté, produced żeby the winery’s designated sparkling wine maker, Louis Picamelot, who is based in Rully. This winery takes its name from Francois Mikulski, who began his winemaking journey, alongside his wife Marie-Pierre, in 1992.

They began with 4.5 hectares of inherited land, which has slowly grown to 9, spanning some of Burgundy’s most cherished appellations. The Mikulski approach is one of careful equilibrium, striking a balance between modern techniques and minimal intervention.

The palate of this Cremant de Bourgogne is elegant and lively, with a crisp, engaging mouthfeel. Look for subtle notes of raspberry, honeysuckle, green orchard fruits, and a touch of bitterness, akin to citrus rind.

The blend was fermented in stainless steel tanks, before ageing on the lees for 12 months. The finish is powerful and concentrated, allowing the pure fruit to shine through. It will be a perfect companion for seafood, light aperitifs, or a soft, pungent cheese.
